NEW BELGIUM SNOW DAY

I headed into the mountains this weekend.  The weather forecast said snow.  Winter ale’s are one of my favorites of the seasonal types.  New Belgium Brewing, located in Fort Collins, CO, has been putting out a winter seasonal called 2 Below ever since I’ve lived here.  As much as I like New Belgium, 2 Below was really not my favorite winter beer.  But this season they put out another winter seasonal, Snow Day, which I have to say is one of my favorites that the brewery makes, Continue reading “NEW BELGIUM SNOW DAY”

GREAT DIVIDE FRESH HOP ALE

I’d never tried a “fresh hopped” beer before Great Divide Brewing‘s Fresh Hop Pale Ale.  I’m a big fan of using the freshest, highest quality ingredients whenever possible so I wanted to try it out.  This is definitely an exceptional pale ale.  The color was an awesome orange amber. It smelled great, something which I think fresh hopping might have a decent effect on.  It’s definitely hop forward like your typical APA, but it finished nice. UINTA OAK JACKED PUMPKIN ALE

It’s great to see good ale coming out of Utah.  Uinta Brewing Company has been brewing solid beer since 1993.

In 2010 they released a series of beers called the Crooked Line.  Each beer is offered in 750ml bottles, is corked, and is intended to be shared like a bottle of wine.  There are currently five beers that are part of the Line.  All are boldly flavored and fairly high in alcohol content.  For added flair UBC had a different local artist design a special graphic for each of the five beers. GOLDEN CITY BREWING MAD MOLLY’S BROWN ALE

In this great state of Colorado there are a lot of very good breweries; some really big, some really small.  I live in Golden, home to the largest single brewery in the world (one that I’m not really a fan of).  Fortunately, this makes it kind of a beer town.  The first happy hour in town starts at 7am.  Just for the night shift folks at Coors.  But Golden also has one other brewery, the Golden City Brewery.  Their slogan is “The second largest brewery in Golden”.  Continue reading “GOLDEN CITY BREWING MAD MOLLY’S BROWN ALE”
