Wheat beers are not a particular favorite of mine. I've just never been a fan; maybe it was the blue moon band wagon that ruined it for me, I don't know. What I do know is Lagunitas makes amazing beer and has crafted quite the wheat beer with Little Sumpin Sumpin Ale; a wheat pale ale to be precise.
A - Light amber almost golden color, fluffy white head with great head retention and lacing, as if the beer was topped with whipped cream.
S - It doesn't smell like your average wheat beer, it has that grassy scent to it but it's over powered by hops, not really much else in the nose on this one.
T - The taste is very hoppy which I was a huge fan of. Up front you get the citrus notes which pretty much linger through yourr whole tasting experience with a slight hint of malt in there. Very smooth and drinkable, but far from a session beer as its 7% ABV.
Once again I am not a huge fan of wheat beers, but Lagunitas never seizes to amaze me and I may not take such a harsh judgement on wheat beers in the near future. Thank you Lagunitas!
