As the beginning phases of construction come together at Brooklyn Brewery, they finally have their new brewhouse facility up and running. The new brewhouse is courtesy of an $800,000 NY State grant for urban development and will significantly increase brewery production, pushing Brooklyn into one of the top producing regional breweries in the country.
Prior to the upgrades, Brooklyn was producing around 8,000 barrels at their facility annually. New equipment installations will drive up in house production to 20K barrels per year. Check out their blog for some pictures and more about the expansion! Â The brewery plans to celebrate with a ribbon cutting next month.
According to their Twitter account, the crew at Brooklyn decided last Wednesday, January 12th, would be an excellent time to christen the new gear and brew a new addition to the Brewmasters Reserve Series; Main Engine Start. Main Engine Start will be a"very drinkable" draft only 6.2% ABV Abbey Singel golden ale, a first of the style from Brooklyn. Keep an eye out at your local watering hole for this release sometime next month!
