This is something new we are going to do in conjunction with our friends at The Mohawk House. By now you are familar with our "Notes" posts on the various beers we drink but now its time to expand on that and have some "Draft Notes" as well. Whether its at the restaurant or whatever we fill our growler's with and take home, we will have some draft notes every so often for you to read up on.

The Poet 2 1024x768 Draft Notes New Hollands The Poet

The first beer I would like to share is New Holland's The Poet. A very simple yet tasty Oatmeal Stout.

A- It poured dark brown almost black with little head and good lacing.

S- Smells very roasty and chocolately with hints of oat

T- Once again you get chocolate but its this bitter sweet taste that is pleasant and goes well the roasty coffee notes. Medium in body, creamy with a dry finish.

O - Overall this beer was very good. A very simple yet complex stout. I would say this is a good beginner stout for someone that is trying to get into the craft beer scene.
