It might not be a live post but I am writing about this one as I am drinking it! I am sitting here watching Monday Night Football, enjoying a Full Sail Wreck the Halls, chit chatting about beer and my buddy Mike mentions he had recently obtained some River Horse Oatmeal Milk Stout. I say, "That sounds delicious!" I am a big fan of River Horse beers as well as stouts and I had not heard nor seen this beer yet at my local spot. I opened his fridge and - finding he had one left - asked, "What is this worth to you?" Mike told me I could have it and I thank him still because I think this may be the best beer I have had from River Horse. It pours a dark caramel brown with little head that fades quickly. The nose is mildly roasty with oatmeal and sweet chocolate presenting itself towards the end. Definitely a drinkable beer, especially on a cold winter's eve. It tastes as good as it smells - chocolate malts up front, sweet oatmeal in the middle with a not so bitter finish. It has a very light mouth feel and over-all it is a very excellent stout. Â I will be on my way to the store tomorrow to pick up a six pack or two. Gotta support our local brewers!
