As I stated in the Southern Tier article, I am not a fan of pumpkin beers and am therefor always looking for something different in that style. I seem to have found another one that can be enjoyed on a cool fall night. Straying from the normal pumpkin beers, Sixpoint has come out with a wet hop ale made of fresh picked citra hops from B.T. Loftus Ranches - located in the Yakima Valley region of Washington State. Being a big fan of Sixpoint I had great expectations regarding this beer. Check out this excellent video from Sixpoint talking about wet hopping with Loftus Ranches' Patrick Smith.
Having this beer while watching that video really makes me think about the experimentation which goes into the brewing process. Although this beer doesn't have an overwhelming pumpkin flavor, it stands on its own with the other ingredients - namely, white pepper, ginger and the oh-so-delicious fresh picked citra hops. Sixpoint has made some different for the fall and I commend them for it. If Sixpoint is available in your area make sure to get yourself a four pack of Autumnation.
