Beer Bar – Neighborhood
There remains yet another stop in our San Diegan journey which has not been touched upon - Neighborhood. With so many bars to choose from downtown, it's almost too hard to decide which to patronize. This choice was easy - the sharp presentation pulled us in off the street, while the food and beer kept our attention rapt.
Beer Bar – SALT
Last Wednesday we took a trip up to a little place called Salt - a gastro pub serving up food and beer for locals of Sussex County, New Jersey. I had heard so much about the place over the past year, and was intrigued by stories of a great beer selection and a menu filled with awesome dishes. The afternoon was quiet, overcast, and a bit chill; it was the sort of day best spent indoors with a cold drink and a hot plate.
Beer Bar – Barcade, Jersey City
Continuing along the journey in Jersey City, my second stop was the famous Barcade. Originally opened in Brooklyn, with a passion for classic arcade games and American craft beer came great success, and it was decided that they would open two more locations. Residents of New Jersey are lucky enough to have one of the new locations in the bustling urban setting of Jersey City, while the beer drinkers in and around Philly received the second.
Beer Bar – The Iron Monkey
Last week I traveled to Jersey City to check out the local craft beer scene. My first stop was The Iron Monkey which I have heard so much about this past year. I was very eager to check it out, hoping to grab both a beer and a bite to eat and so wasted no time getting there. The Iron Monkey is located downtown, right by the light rail and PATH train - a decidedly convenient location. Of course, I'm not here to give you directions, so let's go inside and behold the Iron Monkey in all its glory.
Beer Bar – The Hopping Pig
Penned in alongside other establishments of the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, The Hopping Pig is as fine a destination as any for the famished and parched among us. Brian and I stumbled in by chance during our first venture downtown that week. Despite the early hour, we were met with friendly and able service (and some damn fine beer).
Beer Bar – Eddie’s Roadhouse
While visiting Mistucky Creek a few months back, we were tipped off about Eddie's Road House. Now I had heard about this place from a few people - rotating taps, cask, and an excellent food selection were all I needed to hear to take the trip. Eddie's is a small family run bar located in downtown Warwick, NY. The area is traditionally known for apple picking and wineries, and now the craft beer movement is establishing a foothold in that heritage. Some of America's best breweries have found their way to this little town, with every bar having some sort of craft offering.
Beer Bar – Rock Bottom Brewery
Another reputable craft beer establishment finds itself in San Diego - Rock Bottom Brewery and Restaurant. Following the original opening in Colorado in 1991, Rock Bottom now has 35 locations across the US with four of them being in California.
