Mari’s 6 Pac And Mor

While we were out in Pennsylvania last week we paid a visit to a very respectable bottle shop in Reading. I had been contacted by the store's manager weeks earlier, inquiring if we would like to check out their thousand-plus bottles available for purchase. What's that Dave? Over a thousand bottles? No more needed to be said, and I informed Mari and Dave that we would be there sooner than later.

Terrapin Wake-N-Bake

Here we have a decent justification for beer with breakfast (for those of us who need the excuse). A collaboration beer between Terrapin and Jittery Joe's Coffee, Wake-N-Bake is an Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout which can easily be substituted for that cup of joe in your morning routine. Well, not really, but it is one quality coffee stout and I'll be damned if I don't have this at some future brunch.

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye

I don't know about you but I feel the weather in New Jersey has been more than exceptional as far as winter goes. There has been very little snow and plenty of days when shorts and a t-shirt seem like a grand idea. While we haven't been able to fully enjoy our winter activities of ice fishing and snow boarding, we are instead sustained by the early beers of the spring. One of the first to come out this season is Ruthless Rye from Sierra Nevada. Rye beers are on the uptake lately, with more and more breweries adding this ancient ingredient to their grain bills.

Lucky Town Brewing

Lucky Town logo 090111 1024x1022 Lucky Town Brewing

I got an email last week from a nice fellow by the name of Chip Jones. Chip is starting up Lucky Town Brewing in good old Mississippi where the craft beer scene is quickly on the rise. I am happy that Chip reached out to us so that we can pass this message onto you. If anyone can assist Chip and Lucky Town Brewing in achieving their goals please feel free to contact them at the information below.

"Lucky Town Brewing Company is a new planned brewery in Mississippi, and although there is no brewery within 150 miles of Jackson, the craft beer community here is thriving. As many of you know, Mississippi suffers from some of the strictest beer legislation in the country, which is one reason why there is only one production brewery located in Mississippi currently. Since the laws do not allow for many to bring their beer to Mississippi, we at Lucky Town intend to give the local craft beer enthusiasts a broader choice. Lucky Town recently launched a Kick starter project, and our goal is to raise at least $20,000 to help cover some of our up front costs such as license fees, insurance costs, keg expenses, and ingredients costs among others. We raised over $6,000 in the first 10 days, and with the support we have locally we feel confident that we can reach our goal.

Rogue Bacon Maple Ale

6797707561 5f03b9a7fb z Rogue Bacon Maple Ale

I don't even know where to begin with this one. A beer brewed with bacon? Rogue Ales recently hit the markets with a collaboration beer they created with Voodoo Doughnut out of Portland, Oregon. The beer features a slew of smoked malts, maple flavoring, and yes, bacon. Now I have had some smoked beers before that were a little overwhelming (and needless to say not to pleasant), so I was a bit skeptical about the thirteen dollar bottle of beer I had just purchased. After reading some mixed reviews online my skepticism only increased. I mean, you have to believe everything on the internet, right?

The Bruery Talks Sour Ales

I don't normally put two videos up back to back for content but I just had to share this one. Sour beers are on the come up and I have personally made it a New Year's resolution to try as many as I can possibly can in 2012. Enjoy this little video from some of the guys at The Bruery discussing sour beers from ingredients that make them to process and care of aging them in oak. I really knew nothing about sour beers and this was a pretty decent crash course and worth the watch.
