Event – Oskar Blues Night At Mohawk House

Last Thursday, I attended an Oskar Blues tasting night at Mohawk House. If you aren't familar with the name, they are one of Colorado's premier breweries and the first craft brewery in the US to distribute their product in cans. If you are familiar, then you know their flagship beer - Dale's Pale Ale - of which I am a huge fan. With the exception of Gubna, Oskar Blues brought out their full line up of canned goodness on draft: Ten Fidy Stout, Mama's Little Yella Pils, Dale's Pale Ale, Old Chub and G'Knight.
I love this shot! I couldn't wait to see these tap handles lined up together. I think it's really unique that they only can their beers and serve it on draft.
Matt Zrebiec (Regional Brand Manager for Oskar Blues) was giving away beer can necklaces, stickers, and beer glasses. I don't think there was one person that got by Matt without trying some Oskar Blues. The fan favorite of the evening was Mama's Little Yella Pils - a perfect solution to quench your thirst on a cool June evening.
I took a G'Knight necklace to pair up with my glass of imperial goodness.

No trip to Mohawk would be complete with out mentioning some food. I went for their signature burger - ground sirloin with bacon and mozzarella.
More schwag!
I noticed a bunch of people ordering flights, sampling the whole line up.
Everyone was grabbing the beer can necklaces left and right. Most mistook them for real cans of beer.
The one and only beer I never had from Oskar Blues was Old Chub. I recently got into Scotch Ales and I must say this is the best one I have had yet. Dark, sweet, and drinkable, this was by far my favorite beer of the night.

And so we come to the close of yet another beer tasting event. With no bands playing I found this had to be one of the most relaxing beer tastings I have been to yet. It was nice chatting with Scott from Hunterdon and Matt from Oskar Blues, and I hope we can link up when I head out to Denver in September for Great American Beer Fest. Big thanks to the Mohawk House for playing host to this event; it was a fine evening.
