Last night's event at Barcade in Jersey City was spectacular, with a great selection of beers from one of the best craft breweries around flowing forth. If you can't tell from the title of the article I am obviously talking about Victory from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. All together sixteen beers were featured, fifteen taking up the main lines and one very special cask. There were the usual suspects like Hop Wallop and Festbier, and some rarer specimens such as Donny Brook Stout, Harvest Pils, and even a keg of 2010 Golden Monkey - tapped just for the occasion.
I was in a few days prior to the event taking pictures of the space for our write-up on Barcade, and was lucky enough to see all the Victory kegs hauled in waiting to hit the cold box.
Even though the Victory neon is on all the time at Barcade, it deserves its rightful place in this post.
So many good choices on the menu. Do I get the cask? Do I get something light, or something heavy?
How about a Donny Brook Stout? It's not often I get to have this one and I was so stoked to see it. Any Guiness lovers out there should give this a whirl if you come across it.
Occupy chalk board. Sorry Bear Republic you are the 1%.
Barcade got the theme down pat. Victory glasses, victory coasters, even Steve the bartender had on my favorite Resist Prohibition t-shirt.
Smokin' Oats Porter was the special cask beer for the evening, which I saw getting a lot of pumps as soon as it was tapped.
I would like to thank the guys at Barcade for hosting such a great evening. I haven't seen this many Victory beers in one spot other than the restaurant in Downingtown, and I am happy to have been there. Of course I can't forget all the local beer drinkers I chatted with giving me a real feel for the Jersey City craft beer scene - thanks ya'll. We will have plenty more coming from Barcade in near future, starting with a full feature on the bar itself so stay tuned.
I would like to thank the guys at Barcade for a great evening. I met a lot of other beer drinkers
