There is really no need for lenghty paragraphs in this post so Im going to get right to it. 2 weeks ago a good friend of mine hosted a beer tasting to celebrate the spring. Although the day wasn't filled with session beers, there were plenty good brews to go around and some great food as well. They were still setting up the new kegarator when I got there so I decided to crack open my freshly filled growler of Ramstein Maibock.
One of the my favorite beers of the day was out of a six pack this kid from Philly brought. Bell's, Oberon Ale. I really wish they would get into NJ already. Their beer is such quality.
Finally we tap the sixtel of Victory Prima Pils. Disregard the Wild Devil sticker. You can't have a party with out having snacks. This buffalo chicken dip was gone instantly.
I wasn't a big fan of this beer. This is the second time I have had Allagash Curieux and I found out its not for my palate. I will say it was a little more pleasant out of the bottle then draft.
Ommegang makes a great beer! Hennepin despite the ABV was found refreshing on this particular day.
We also got to sample some vintage Lagunitas, Ruben and The Jets named after the Frank Zappa album.
More food, we chopped up some onions and peppers to go along with the steak we were grilling
They came out decent
Steak was amazing too
Paired it with some Harviestoun Ola Dubh Special 16.
Victory keg was kicked so we sent our friend on a mission only for him to come back with a sixtel of The Finest Kind from Smuttynose.
Mikkeller Big Worse was the last beer I remember trying. Way to potent of a barley wine for me.
We ended the night with some more cake as it was Mike's birthday. Im sure we will be having many more of these gatherings in the near future so stay tuned.
