Where do I even start? This is hands down one of the best brewery tours I have ever been on. It was breathtaking to see and was chock full of information. There are not too many breweries out there that bring you into their whole operation and it’s great to see Allagash sharing all the wonders of their humble brewery. There is a lot to see so let us get going.
Allagash opened its doors in 1995 and has been churning out quality beer since their first batch of white ale. Rather than go with the trends, Rob Tod and the gang have been dancing to the beat of their own drum turning out fantastic belgian ales and an impressive collection of sour beers that put them at the top of the american craft beer scene.
It just so happened that they were brewing their flagship, Allagash White. Yes that is a spice hop back, they use only the freshest ingredients for their beer.
I got to see the coolship. More to come on that soon so stay tuned.
Thanks to Paul and Matt for the hospitality and Jeff for setting everything up. This is a very special place and if you ever find yourself in Portland, Maine, Allagash should be number one on your list. Cheers gang, see you soon.
