DOUBLE DOSE

Double Dose 1It has been a while since we touched on something from Otter Creek let alone posting something about Lawsons Finest. But here we are and the two have joined forces to bring us a dank double india pale ale that could only come from Vermont. The beer is called Double Dose IPA with a title “Great Minds Drink Alike” and we couldn’t agree more on the collaboration. With breweries getting together all over the country to brew with one another it especially great to see to locals mash in a beer. There are numerous cool factors for this beer that I just have to mention.

Double Dose 2

One, it is made in Vermont, Brewers Mike Gerhart of Otter Creek Brewing and Sean Lawson of Lawson’s Finest Liquids are some of the best in the country and working together on this awesome IPA is a testament to craft brewing here in the US. Two, they blended both of their house yeast’s for this beer an interesting and risky move but worth it in the end. Three, the water, Sean Lawson brought fresh H20 from Warren to mix with the water at Otter Creek in Middlebury. Four, All the ingridients from this beer are from New England. The barley for this brew was malted locally in Hadley, MA by Valley Malt and the hops were freshly harvested Vermont grown hops – thanks to UVM and  local hop growers.

Double Dose

As you can see this beer is local as local gets as far as a collaboration. Lawsons Finest and Otter Creek did a fine job on this IPA and I look forward to seeing them do more in the future. Double Dose is one of the best collaboration beers I have had in a while and a proper Double IPA to boot. This was a small batch and available in mostly bottles. so it’s out there. Call up a local retailer and get your hands on some, I don’t imagine it will last long.
