LONG IRELAND BEER COMPANY

Long Ireland Brewing
I recently started some part time work with my friend Tyler over at Iron Heart Canning. Working this job is a great way for me to travel, get a great working experience, but the best part about it, is visiting new breweries. As you saw from a recent post, we were out at Long Ireland Beer Company canning up Port Jefferson’s, Party Boat IPA. Aside from grabbing some canning content, I couldn’t but to grab some photos and tell you about Long Ireland as well.

Long Ireland Brewing 2
Opened in 2009, Long Ireland has been turning out hand crafted beers for the drinkers of Long Island, making everything from Irish Red’s to IPA’s. Keeping up with demand they have just added 6 50 barrel fermenters that can max the facility out to 10,000 barrels a year.

Long Ireland Brewing - Fred
Aside from us doing a canning run, brewer, Fred was whipping a batch up of their Summer Ale.

Long Ireland Brewing - Kegs
What would a brewery be with out kegs to fill?

Long Ireland Brewing - Grain Mill

Their grain mill proudly displays stickers from their neighbors on the island.

Long Ireland Brewing - Black Friday
They don’t have a big barrel aging program here but they do make one beer a year that is out of this world, Black Friday.

Long Ireland Brewing - Dan
Dan moving around the last bit of Party Boat to be loaded up, so I decided to get out of the way and hit the tasting room for a pint.

Long Ireland Brewing - Beers
The tasting room is awesome. At Long Ireland, you can usually find about a dozen beers on ranging in style.

Long Ireland Brewing - Summer Ale
Since they were brewing Summer Ale, I just had to have a glass of that. Refreshing and the perfect beer for the muggy hot day.

Long Ireland Brewing - Old Beer Cans
There are some pretty cool decorations on the walls in the tasting room. Some of my favorites were the photo of some local service men and the cans of the past.

Long Ireland Brewing - Liam
Back at the bar our friend Liam(@libeerguy) was entertaining a group from Buffalo Wild Wings, as they recently started carrying Long Ireland on draft. It’s great to see a local brand break into the chains, giving the consumer a fresh option that is made in their neighborhood.

Long Ireland Brewing - Double IPA
It was too hard to choose another beer to try. I really would have liked to try the Saison, but sadly it kicked. I went for their Double IPA instead which wise quite delicious.

Long Ireland Brewing 3
If you ever find yourself out in River Head, do yourself a favor and check out Long Ireland. With all the beer they have, there is something for everyone to try. Thanks to Dan, Fred and Liam for their time, we look forward to a return trip in the near future. Keep up the good work and we’ll see you soon.
