AGAINST THE GRAIN BRETTISH BULLDOG

Against The Grain - Brettish Bulldog 1

While Adam and I were home brewing a few weeks ago, we decided to crack open the last of his Kentucky booty. Having really enjoyed; There Gose The Neighborhood, as well as Bay and Pepper Your Bretts from Against The Grain. We were pretty stoked to have their Old Ale, Brettish Bull Dog. Judging by the name, you can guess that this beer is dosed with Brettanomyces like most of their beers, and while the old ale style is not all that popular, Against The Grain has brought it back in style.

Against The Grain - Brettish Bulldog 3

Made in collaboration with Beer Engine, this brew uses a heavy amount of English malts as well as a pre boil sour to bring you warm toasty notes with just a hint of tartness. Probably the most mild sour I have ever come across, and most certainly the best Old Ale, I have had in a while.

I think it is safe to say that Against The Grain is doing some pretty good things over in Kentucky. Everything they make is whacky, out of the box, and some of the most interesting beer I have had this year. Cheers to the gang at Against The Grain, we look forward to our visit this winter.
